The original 30 days

Day #1 of doing something new:

I’ve never learned how to make a proper fart noise before.

Day #2 of doing something new:

I’ve never brushed my teeth with my non-dominant hand.

I was terrible.

Day #3 of doing something new:

I’ve never danced on a table before. Our table was super wobbly, so mom and dad made me dance with a helmet on.

Day #4 of doing something new:

I’ve never seen a Hitchcock movie. I watched “The Paradine Case,” which is not one of his more well-known movies. Probably for a reason.

Day #5 of doing something new:

I’ve never walked around Yale campus before. I walked through the Musical Instrumental Collection with Claudia. This is a picture of a 19th century bassoon. So glad I didn’t have to play this.

Day #6 of doing something new:

I’ve never volunteered at a Food Bank before. Pictures not allowed!

Day # 7 of doing something new:

I’ve never made my own pasta and sauce from scratch. I’m talking flour and tomatoes here, people!!

Day #8 of doing something new:

I’ve never frosted someone’s hair before! It smells TERRIBLE.

Day #9 of doing something new:

I’ve never been to a Baptism before! This is my new nannying charge 🙂

Day #10 of doing something new:

I’ve never swam in my rainboots before! It was actually kinda hard.

Day #11 of doing something new:

I’ve never sent a message in a bottle before! I was worried that it wouldn’t get carried out, but it did!

Day #12 of doing something new:

I’ve never read the book “Passages,” by Gail Sheehy, before. I always thought that this was written for post-menopausal women, but it actually describes all the crises we go through from 18 on. I’m right on track for my mid-life crisis! Woo Hoo!!!

Day #13 of doing something new:

I’ve never bought a lotto ticket before. I lost both the scratch-offs and the quick-picks. Guess I still need to find the millionaire to marry….

Day #14 of doing something new:

I’ve never tried fried green tomatoes before! They were sooooo good!

Day #15 of doing something new:

I’ve never planked before. This is planking: mailbox edition.

Day #16 of doing something new:

I’ve never gone commando before! I’m standing next to the Liberty Bell for FREEDOM!!! (from undies!)

Day #17 of doing something new:

I’ve never had my palm read before. I should have saved the $5 for some ice cream, instead.

Day #18 of doing something new:

I’ve never counted to 10 in Tibetan before. This is in honor of the Dalai Lama (I’ve become a groupie over the past year). It’s really hard!!

Day #19 of doing something new:

I’ve never taken a bubble bath before! Hooray Mr. Bubble!

Day #20 of doing something new:

I’ve never ridden my bike over the Waterford bridge. 8.5 miles, WITH TRAFFIC. It’s also a drawbridge, so I was worried that a big boat would go through and the bridge would go up and I’d have to pull an Evil Kneivel stunt. It didn’t happen.

Day #21 of doing something new:

I’ve never sent a can of soup through the mail before. I always wanted to try this with a coconut when I lived in Hawaii, but never got around to it. There aren’t that many coconuts in CT (!), so I went with the soup instead. (Also, terrible picture….I had just come from the gym….)

Day #22 of doing something new:

I’ve never attempted to recreate a picture from my past! Somebody please god teach me how to use a curling iron.

Day #23 of doing something new:

I’ve never attended a Unitarian Universalist service before. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and it was great! I will definitely try and go back.

Day #24 of doing something new:

I’ve never gotten ridiculously dressed up just to go grocery shopping. It’s frigid in Aisle 8!!

Day #25 of doing something new:

I’ve never done 1,000 calf raises before. This might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.

Day #26 of doing something new:

I’ve never tried on fireman gear before! (And I got to do it on a TRUCK!!) Big props to my friend Jess and her awesome dad for this one.

Day #27 of doing something new:

I’ve never brewed my own beer before! Which means in 5 weeks I’ll get to drink beer that I’ve brewed for the first time!!!

Day #28 of doing something new:

I’ve never worn my clothes backwards all day before. The hardest part was buckling the belt. The second was walking around in public with a weird air bubble in the front of my shorts where my butt was supposed to be.

Day #29 of doing something new:

I’ve never gone DOWN the UP escalator. Harder than I thought!

Day #30 of doing something new:

I’ve never thought up/written/edited/starred in a Digital Short. ……and then put it on YouTube.
